Maruni

I am currently obsessed with this chair. Might be the fact that the office has just recently purchased a classroom full of armchairs that it's got me ahh-ing and awww-ing at the entire furniture collection by this company, Maruni, a Japanese multi-disciplinary company that focuses on furniture and environmental design.

Works include the Red Cross office in Australia an The Monocle Cafe in Japan.

Check them out here.

Traditional medicine.

Trolling through the internet looking for inspiration for a concept I am developing.
Stumbled through some imagery that has left me in awe. In awe from the lack of utensils, information and technology, yet they still seem to be able to interpret what they understand so clearly.

Breast cancer treatment, 1809

These illustrations are from an 1809 book documenting various surgeries performed by Seishū Hanaoka for the treatment of breast cancer. The illustrations here depict the treatment for a 60-year-old female patient.

Human anatomy (date unknown)

In this image, a sheet of transparent paper showing the outline of the body is placed over the anatomical illustration.

More.

I'm left in shock.

Why?

So I haven't blogged for a few months now, or should I say almost a year nearly. The thing with blogging, it's hard to find something interesting to say or worthy of your 10minutes to type up, upload, edit and publish. I've been uninspired for a while now or careless even and obviously neglecting this personal space. Well I'm here to say I feel like writing. And hopefully it will be a little more permanent. More regularly. Forever, or at least for a while.

So here's a beautiful video about The Mast Brothers. I've never tried their product (partly because they're on the other side of the world), but everything from their branding, their style and their story encapsulated into this little piece, is worthy of your 9min. Enjoy.
